Freaking Myself Out...?

When I was at the doctors when I was 7 weeks ( I'm now 11 weeks 2 days ), my doctor did an ultra sound due to excessive morning sickness. She said the baby looked good and had a good heartbeat. She gave me all my paper work for my blood work after the appointment was done, and also a down syndrome test to get done at 15 weeks. She didnt talk about the test itself like I should be worried or anything, just acted like it was routine for her. Should I be scared because she wants me to test? Or is it a normal test to get done. I have no Chromosonal Abnormalities in my family so I'm not too sure.

After reading many articles geared towards college grads I was able to find out quickly that most college grads are, on average, $16,000 in debt upon graduation. My questions is where are these kids going to school? Because from my experiences, college could never be that cheap! In December I will graduate and receive a degree in Business and I will also have $50,000 + looming over my head. This is something that has kept me awake many nights. I am stressed about this amount of debt let alone having to find a job that can pay for my loans as well as my future costs of living. While I lay there on my dilapidated bunk bed in my crappy dorm room and hear fellow peers walk to the community showers wearing their bright pink flip flops, which by the way can only save you from a few of the things growing in those showers, I truly ask myself where did my $50,000 go? Obviously not towards new housing facilities or better food in the cafeteria. Did it go towards hiring higher educated professors who will mold my mind and allow me to become a wonderfully average person or did it go towards that new university statue we didn’t really need that greets our visitors at the back entrance? But all these anxieties will just be met by new ones when I enter this “real world” everyone always talks about. I know I will be lucky to get a job making $35,000. Most of the time it seems like odds are against us middle-cl citizens. God knows the government won’t help us fund college and on the other hand my parents can’t financially help me either. I could look to my superior mind to help get scholarships but thanks to my local public high school, my brain is rotted. So here I am about to head back for one final semester and all I have to show for it is loans as far as the eye can see. All I can say is at least I didn’t fall to the temptation of a credit card aimed at college students. I have no doubt that I could have racked up another $50,000 just paying for textbooks and pizza.

Hello, I am currently a freshman at UTSA looking into the ROTC SMP. I would just like to know is it worth it?

I have had members of my family in the military, and they joined when they were in high school. I see this as a bit different so their views on it don't really coincide with my goals. While I have to admit that 1 of the reasons that I want to join is money to pay for college it is not the only reason. I'm not sure but it seems like you're trying to gain weight. If you're trying to gain weight/muscle, then you'll need to hit the gym. Just eating yourself to gain weight and you don't exercise, you will gain fat, no matter how healthy the food you're eating is, no matter how little dressing or how healthy the food may seem, you will gain the fat. When you gain weight, you want to gain weight in the form of muscle and that'll require exercise and weights, no other way around it. However if you're trying to lose weight, then Eat 500 calories more than you do now. Workout 1 different body part a day 5 days a week, 3-5 different exercises per body part, 3 sets of 8-10 reps per exercise. Make sure you're gaining 1-2 pounds a week, if you're gaining more, cut your calories a bit. Eat 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight at least. Rest can be fats and carbs.

i use maybelline dream matte dark caramel foundation, it covers up dark spots on my face well. however, i have a problem with it not covering my birthmark(on my chin). can a concealer do heavy coverage?? which maybelline concealer works best? and out of these foundations, which one has more coverage and lasts longer? I just bought a home and it came with a pool. I am trying to get everything set up but i keep running into problems. Right now there is water leaking from one of the hoses and from the first little filter (it has a clear lid). Also there is no suction and it makes a lot of noise. My drinking bottle is a bit smelly?

Baking soda is a good smell remover. So is lemon juice (put some in and let it evaporate) to take out the smell. You could also try toothpaste (scrub with that and let sit for a bit then rinse). I haven't tried the denture tablets others recommended to remove smells, however they are great to remove stains from a coffee or tea cup.

You really are in the center of things being in Anaheim. You can go up to LA where there are great attractions, parks, museums, and just cities like Pasadena and Sierra Madre to explore. There are the beach communities, Big Bear and Wrightwood which are all great fun to check out. Then there is San Diego county and the wine country of Temecula. Unfortunately, public transportation is lacking. There is bus service, amtrack and the trolley in San Diego but it isn't very convenient yet to all points. October is a mixed bag. Sometimes it stays cool and cloudy and other years the Santa Ana's blow through and we get triple digit temperatures. It is my fiancee & my custodial time to have his 10 year old son this weekend. We just got word that he is being picked up from school for vommitting. I paid my rent on time and a few days ago, I recieved a notice to vacate my apartment on the 12th, which a Sunday. Now, when I went up to the office to talk to them about it, there is and has been all week long a sign on the door saying "Gone to training". Now there were a couple of people with the same situation that showed of in front of the office like I did. I can't call and leave a message cause they're (the apartment office) voice mailbox is full and just goes back to the recorded message when it comes down for the beep. My rent check has not been cashed yet. I did drop it off at the night drop off box like so many others did also. And it's not just me, but quite a few other tenants in my complex is in the same situation. I don't know what to do. I'm worried to put a stop payment on my check because of the obvious, but my rent check is somewhere just floating around and I'm being forced out of my home. Any ideas would be a big help. Thanks! Why did i get arthritis on my good strong leg just from bending my knees ?

I'm 26 male. on january i was video taping and in order to lower a bit, i bend my knees a bit and stayed in that position for like 10 seconds.. when i came back up i knew something had torn or something. very very unfair, cause it was such a simple thing i did. Plus that leg is my strongest, the other leg is slightly smaller and weaker but the injured one has strong muscles. So i'm thinking it was the imbablance of leg length and imbablance in muscle strength that somehow caused this. Ok, Now i'ts June, had this on January and although it's better i have bone pain sometimes alot that i cant' even walk. I know it's probably mor elike bone related( that is why im calling it arthritis), i'm not sure what it is though. I've heard of osteoarthritis happening to athletes even when young..so is it this? and man, i have to live the rest of my life without being able to walk well? I went to doc, but he was an ignorant doc that just wanted money. anyways, what can i do for this?

Help! Ex-boyfriend from high school finally tries to contact me after seven years. What to do?

Ok, while I was in high school, I dated this guy for about 2.5 years. I dumped him at the beginning of my senior year cause he was lame--won't get into all that now. Anyway, while my ex was at my house, he talked to my mom and dropped off a letter for me and left me his phone number on the letter--the number looked very familiar, so he probably is in the same location that he was seven years ago. He basically said that hes been thinking about me a lot and wants to see how me and my family's been doing. He said in the letter that he had some rough times but is doing better now, give or take. He also said that he doesn't have caller ID, so I should leave my number and message if he's not home if I want to chat. I'm so creeped out that he tried to reach out of the blue after seven years. I don't know--should I hear him out to see what he's been up to?? Should I be more open to call him just to chat, no strings attached? My company applied for a green card for self and family (self, spouse and two children). After the due process in October 2004 all of us got our cards EXCEPT my youngest son. I visited the local immigration office at least 6 times and they are themselves supprised why he has not got it. They sent e-mails to their head office for an answer but nothing. I wrote several times to the BCIS and they did not have the courtsey of a reply. He is a bright kid and is missing out on most scholarships at the university because his status is in a limbo. I even contacted the local congressman and have come to know that currently the processing for I-485 (adjustment of status) for EB3 (India) is April 2001 - I have been monitoring the Visa bulletin and the processing dates just doesnt seem to move. My question is: if the green card process is family based and we got ours, why one child gets left behind and the processing date jumps BACK by 2 years. What can I do to expedite his?

It's about the same writing level as that of Harry Potter when you get right down to it. I'm 28 years old though and love both the Twilight Series and Harry Potter. Ok i am overweight for my age i am 12 and i weigh 132 pounds but i don't look extremely fat. If you say (oh you will grow and you will look not overweight) those people shut up. My diet is for breakfast a ruby red gfruit with a tiny bit of sugar or an orange. Then for lunch a salad with a tiny bit of Cesar salad dressing with an orange and an apple or some carrots. Math Teachers: Why do you want students to "show their work?"?

Because it is the basics, the foundation for all higher math formulas and theories. Just because you can do an easy problem in your head doesn't mean you can perform higher functions. If you make a mistake in your head, you will not see it. If it is written down, you or someone else can correct the error. Would you want to pay someone half a million dollars to do a project for you only to hear "Wow, sorry dude, I must have made a mistake in my calculations but I don't know where I went wrong". How would you feel if your parents home was being taken by the bank because someone miscalculated the software program that the bank uses. If your working on a team project, how do you expect the rest of the team to combine their work with yours so everyone gets an A (or only the lazy guy who didn't do his stuff the right was fails and not everybody with him). So for the little time it takes you, always show your work. It's a good habit that will stick with you for the rest of your life. Besides, it took you longer to whine, complain and type out this question than it did to show your work. LOL

For the last five years I have grown tomatoes in Melbourne from seedling and around mid January the bottom leaves start yellowing. I'm curious with what it's like to be in this environment with kids of all ages and grades in the same building. Do these schools usually exist in smaller towns? How are the younger children protected and kept safe? Are some cles grade combined (for example 1st and 2nd grade?) Are kids separated by grades in different parts of the building? What grade does a child get to play a sport and participate in social activities like dances? What grade does the one teacher for every subject stop? What about recess? How does each grade get adequate time to use the library and gym? I can't see how this type of school benefits kids. Different levels of schools (elem, middle, high) have different needs for kids emotionally and academically and I can't see how one school can meet all of those needs.

Army Special forces Requirements?

i can help you with that APFT question. army physical fitness test has 3 categories, 2 mile run, 2 minute pushups, 2 minute sit ups. From what you tell me, you'll do fine in all three categories. 60 points is pretty much the minimum score you get get without getting in trouble (different units have different standards). honestly, I cant tell you the numbers for the 60% because I never score that low. Basically you need 13 min 2 mile, 72 pushups, and 78 sit ups to max (APFT score of 300). if you max all 3 and do more then that amount then you can go to the extended scale 300+, highest ive seen was a friend in my unit, he got a 389.. pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

I'd say you fall into the preppy end of hipster - leggings, skinny jeans, those sandals, and loose tops are hipster-ish, while the distressed jeans and that hoody look preppier to me...though I'd say it's the grungy end of preppy. Wow, and I thought I had a bad MIL! She definitely sounds like she needs professional help herself! I don't think you'll ever find a way to be civil around her when she has done all of those terrible things to you. I'm not sure how you'll be able to handle her if your husband is not on the same page as you, though. That's the tough part. He should be on your side, no matter what. Although I understand that your husband thinks her intentions were good (he's just trying to see some good in her) the way she went about the situation is EXTREMELY out of line and he should be doing something about it instead of letting it slide. I think what you need to do is continue counseling with your husband, tell him that you will try your best to get this situation with her under control, but by no means does that mean letting her interfere with your lives whatsoever!! You should agree on letting her visit with your kids occasionally, but you can't be expected to spend one on one time with her when she treats you the way she does. It's gonna take a lot of work and patience on your part, but don't give up and let her win! Keep calm and be as nice as you can...that will really get to her more than anything. My friend bought a pre-owned wii today and then we tried playing a game earlier but the cursor kept playing up, appearing on screen and then disappearing, i recommended we move the sensor Bar bit lower and it worked for a little while but then did the same thing, he then borrowed his neighbors sensor bar and its working perfectly just not on the Mii channel. Are Americans willing to buy small cars?

I've noticed the increase in smaller-European style cars in the U.S., and I was wondering if Americans are accepting of them. I personally would prefer a smaller car because of the superb gas mileage and parking abilities. With a small car, I can fit into parking spaces that typical trucks, suvs, vans, and certain sedans can't fit into. I own two cars, a Volvo C30 (my wife's) & a Mazda3 (mine). I have two kids and as a family, we fit perfectly fine in the Mazda 3. I always hear people saying how much they need a Van or SUV because of their kids. You could easily fit 4 people comfortably in a Mazda3, and STILL fit all you need for everyday activities in the trunk. Anyways, I don't know what the big hang up is about small cars. What pure-math reason is there for learning linear/matrix algebra?

It seems to me that it only has practical use in computer science... and frankly I dont see the power of it. Puppy not gaining weight?

I recently adopted two border collie puppies. One is growing just fine but the other one, the female is very small. She has not gained any weight since the few months shes been with us. We know its not worms. They have been eating the same dogs as all my other dogs have been eating, purina dog chow. We've never had a problem with this food. All three of my dogs have almost 24 hours access to food, but she is still thin as a rail. She was checked by a vet before we got her from the rescue and nothing was wrong with both of them. Is there something we can add to her diet to make her gain weight? I was thinking peanut er to add more protien to her diet.

Is it a babies reaction to adjusting to Rice cereal or may he not be able to tolerate it?

Either the before or after cat O2 sensors could also be causing the problem. also both could be a problem. Check engine codes if you have an engine light on. Those sensors going bad will give the PCM bad readings and will cause the fuel system to starve the engine for fuel and make it sputter and/or cut out. Ive had this happen and after replacement it came back to life. Good luck!

Neither are my choices(Davis and UCLA) are my 1 & 2. Both had good programs, look into them, do your research!...Either way you look at it, at the end of the program, you still get an MD.

Ok living away from home, with boyfriend and his family. He is at uni and going through exams, ignores me. Understandable because it is exam time, but he is either online or studying. I returned to school this year, grades going well. Haven't got a friend in sight. Up till the beginning of the year i was happy, grades where ok. I had friends and life was good, boyfriend was good and we where always together. I did have depression about three years ago, i didn't get any help with that medication or counseling, i got over it though thanks to my boyfriend. But now i just feel hollow, I returned to school 18 years old, that probally doesnt help when your two years older then everyone else, i was a year older anyway before i took a gap year but i didnt really think it mattered. Sure my grades are good getting a high to very high achievements, i have no friend just people i sit with. I force myself to help others so i feel needed and like i actually exist, i've got secrets that i need to tell someone or i'll explode, but i know if i tell someone they will judge me on them. I want to cry but haven't got the energy to even do that. I know life is going well for me, im out of home, living with the love of my life. But i'd give it all up just to be able to have someone that actually gives a crap about what and who i really am, i know my boyfriend should and all that but he's in his second year out of three in uni and rather busy, i dont want to bug the people close to me with my problems cause im sure they are worse then mine, i want someone to care but...dammit i just dont know, i have tried going to my school councillors, that failed. they didn't get it either. I'm thinking now of getting either medication to just stop hurting or just ending it.

I am in a growing debate with my friends over who they would want on their team if they were to choose one player. Lebron James or Kobe Bryant are the best players in the NBA but i feel that the best player to build around is DWIGHT HOWARD. i feel that way because if you see many of the dynasties in the past they had a dominant big man like the celtics and bill russel, the lakers and jabar and later shaq, the spurs and duncan.....the list goes on......and on. A dyansty can't happen unless you have a dominant center or power foward or MJ because when you have a big man whos hard to guard, they get the double or triple team(howard always gets atleAST DOUBLE TEAMS) which opens up 3 point oppurtunities. Lebron James could end up like allen iverson and howard can end up like duncan. The bottom line is that the center is the most important positon IMO and howard is by far the best center now that duncan and shaq are past their primes. even duncan said that dwight howard is ahead of duncan when he was young and that hes so developed and dominant and shaq has trouble guarding dwight howard. Also Dwight Howard and lebron james have similar talent on their teams....the cavs have moe williams while the magic has jameer nelson. the cavs have/had delonte west and ben wallace...the magic has/had rafer alston and hedo turkalo. so the magic beat the cavs because dwight howard was just too dominant for the cavs and lebron to handle.
