How do you check to see if your beliefs are crazy?

The way I do checks is ask myself, will this theory hold up in every day application. Astrology for example, even with horoscopes, all readings are different. If it was a true science when looking at the starts to determine what the future will bring, there would be only one answer that everyone came to. Unfortunately, no one comes up with the same answer, everyone see's the stars differently. No two horoscopes match, because there is no real science to getting the answers.
