Hello, I am currently a freshman at UTSA looking into the ROTC SMP. I would just like to know is it worth it?

I have had members of my family in the military, and they joined when they were in high school. I see this as a bit different so their views on it don't really coincide with my goals. While I have to admit that 1 of the reasons that I want to join is money to pay for college it is not the only reason. Another reason I'd like to join is the spontinuity of joining the military, of not knowing where I will be in the next month or week! I just want all the advice I can get before signing those papers because I want to make sure this is the right decision. I am currently in the honors college at UTSA and I have decent ACT/SAT scores (1100 composite, and 22 ACT)... So I don't think the asvab will be a problem.. I just need lots of advice on the matter.
